Following My Leader

Matthew 4:19
Then He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

While Jesus was walking along the shores of the Sea of Galilee he came across Peter and Andrew. Jesus told them to drop their nets and follow Him. He didn’t offer them a big paycheck or fame. He didn’t make a bunch of promises or guaranteed rewards. He just said follow me.

Peter and Andrew, who had been fishermen their whole lives, a family business, did just what Jesus asked. Dropped everything and followed. Jesus is asking you to drop everything and follow Him. To drop your old way of life and live like He did. To be His example, His model in today’s world. When you make that decision, the decision to follow Jesus, your relationship with Him is cemented and your life takes on a whole new meaning, a new purpose.

God has given believers gifts and talents that He wants us to use for His glory. Everyday you must make the decision to stick to your commitment and use those gifts that He has given you so that others may find what you found. An experience of a lifetime. Will you follow Him?

Live it out
  • What does the Holy Spirit tell you about this verse?
  • How do you live it out?

Pray about it
  • Jesus, I will follow you. Help me to drop my old ways like…
  • God, help me bring people to your love.
