Night Light

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.

In our home, we have a stairwell to our youngest son’s bedroom. In the evening, after he gets tucked in the lights are off, which makes for a tricky trip back to the living room. That stair well turns pitch black. However, within the the first few nights, we placed a small night light at the bottom and top of the steps. Much less tricky! Those little lights make all the difference on whether I get to my living room safely or become a youtube fail video. It doesn’t take much light to dissipate the darkness.

Our world is filled with darkness, not just physical, but spiritual. That darkness leads to fear which cause us to freeze in our steps. Not to move. The thing is, God calls us to move. Not to fear. That’s why Jesus called us, as His followers, to let our light shine. Because of Christ, we are able to shine His light of hope, joy, comfort and love to people stuck in the darkness. The light will point people to God safely.

Use the light that God has given us to shine for Him to those in our lives. God will shine through you as you do His work and share His love. Don’t let the fear that comes from darkness control you and keep you from glorifying Him. Take the steps that are needed to stay on the path, so that others may get on and follow His path! It only takes a little light to impact a lot of darkness.
